Press release – Archival documents linked to Jeanne Mance discovered in Quebec

The archives of the Séminaire de Québec, under the responsibility of the Musée de la civilisation, recently revealed important archival documents linked to the first years of the founding of Montreal. These documents have been kept there since 1673, the year of the death of Jeanne Mance, co-founder of the city of Montreal. Furthermore, one of the most significant archives traced by Paul Labonne, general director of the Musée des Hospitalières de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, with the assistance of archivist Peter Gagné of the Musée de la civilization, is a letter from Jeanne Mance, written around 1655.
